if the woman we are talking to is younger than us ถ้าเกิดว่าผู้หญิงคนที่เราคุยด้วย เขาอายุน้อยกว่า
if we meet someone that we do not know ถ้าเกิดว่าเราเจอคนที่ยังไม่รู้จักเนี่ย
If it happens that it’s er...“you” (for a woman older than speaker’s mother) or “you” (for a woman younger than speaker’s mother) ถ้าเกิดเป็น เอ่อ.. เป็นป้าหรือว่าเป็นน้า
if being a person of the same level and of the same age ถ้าเกิดเป็นคนในระดับเดียวกัน คือวัยเดียวกัน
If it is a woman, she will refer to herself using the word “I” (for women). ถ้าเป็นผู้หญิง เขาจะเรียกตัวเองว่าดิฉัน
You...you (to younger person), can I order more food. น้อง..น้อง ขอสั่งเพิ่มหน่อย
You (for a woman older than speaker’s mother)...how much is this? ป้า..อันนี้เท่าไหร่เหรอครับ?
I will address them using “you” (for younger people). ผมก็จะเรียกเขาว่าน้อง
I will address my friends using the impolite form of “you”. ผมก็จะเรียกเพื่อนว่ามึง
I also refer to myself with the word “I” because it is a formal word. ผมก็เรียกตัวเองว่า ผม เพราะว่าเป็นทางการไง
I will divide it into three large types. ผมจะแบ่งออกเป็นสามหมวดใหญ่ๆ นะครับ
I might say, hey! .. What’s up, Golf? ผมอาจจะเรียกว่า เอ้อ!.. ว่าไงวะกอล์ฟ
A man refers to himself with the word “I”. ผู้ชายเรียกว่า ผม
A woman instead refers to herself with the word “I”. ผู้หญิงแทนตัวเองว่า ดิฉัน
You...you (to an older person) could I have the bill. พี่..พี่ เก็บเงินหน่อยครับ
Are you following your class? พี่ตามทันหรือเปล่าเนี่ย?
How are you? (to someone older) พี่สบายดีปะ?
I don’t have much time to come to see you. พี่ไม่ค่อยมีเวลาเข้ามาหาเลยอะ
There is polite language and impolite language. มีทั้งภาษาที่สุภาพและก็ภาษาที่ไม่สุภาพ
Have you eaten yet? (male impolite form) มึงกินข้าวยัง?
