Using "Auto Breakdown"

Submitted by admin on 19 June 2019

Auto Breakdown is a feature which allows you to more easily add a complete literal breakdown for a word or phrase.

Before using this feature, it is important that you are fully skilled at doing the Literal Breakdown manually, so that you can check everything is correct.

The feature is available on the "Auto Breakdown" tab. In the following example, the phrase has not been broken down at all yet.

Auto Breakdown tab

On that tab you will find the "Perform auto breakdown" button:

Perform Auto Breakdown

The Auto Breakdown will automatically fill in the words which it knows.

For example, it knows that the word "Ik" in Dutch means "I" in English, so it automatically adds that.

Sometimes it has two or more possibilities for a particular word. Here the word "heb" is ambiguous, so you are asked to select which of the versions it knows about to use.

Sometimes there are words which are not yet known. In that case the page will ask you to fill in the translation. In the example below "kassa" is an unknown word. Select the correct form of "kassa" which in this case is the lowercase version, and fill in the equivalent in English, in this case "cash register".

Another example of a new word below is "gewerkt" where the English translation "worked" is filled in.

When all the information has been filled in, pressing the "Select translation" button will allow the system to complete the breakdown.

The end result with the Literal Breakdown is then shown:
