How to breakdown abbreviations

Submitted by admin on 17 August 2016

Breakdown abbreviations by using the full words.

For example, OVNI, we breakdown as:

  • object
  • volant
  • non
  • identifié

We usually have a strict match with breakdown, so OVNI would usually breakdown as follows, but you will you see that just breaking down into letters doesn't help the student much at all, since they have no idea what each of the letters stand for.

  • O
  • V
  • N
  • I

Therefore, for abbreviations, use the words which each letter stands for in the breakdown.
