How Lingopolo plans to work from any language, to any language

Submitted by Hugh on 1 September 2017

In an earlier post announcing that Lingopolo becomes 100% free, I wrote about how I'm preparing to build Lingopolo into the world's best system for anybody to learn any-language, from any-language, for free.

Here I would like to explain how this "any-language to any-language" will be done.

What we currently have

Currently, we have only 3 language pairs available.

Are the recordings of real people?

Submitted by admin on 11 August 2017

As far as possible, all the recordings are made by real people, who are all native speakers of the language.

We do not use people who have learned the languages as second languages.

For example, 100% of the Thai words, phrases and dialogues (currently 12274 entries) are spoken by real people, all of whom are native Thai speakers.

Home site

The home site will contain a central record of all the common data on each of the language-specific sites, e.g.

  • the picture for any given word
  • the picture copyright information
  • the lessons which a particular word belongs in (e.g. that the word "dog" belongs in the Animals lesson, the Pets lesson, and the Nouns lesson)

By keeping this common data in one place it means that we can share the data more easily between the different language versions.
