Her little hands were almost completely frozen from cold (paragraph)
Her little hands were almost completely frozen from cold.
Well!
A single match would do her good, if she would dare to take one from a box, strike it against the wall to warm her fingers.
She took one out!
Oh, how it shone, how it burnt!
It was a warm, bright flame, like a light, as she held her hands over it; it was a wonderful light!
It shone towards the little girl, as if she was sitting at a large iron stove.
How the fire burned, and spread such a delightful warmth!
The little girl stretched out her feet to warm them as well; but - the light already went out, the stove disappeared and all that was left, was the remains of a half-burnt match in her hand.

Homeschooling in the Netherlands and the United States (Dialogue)
Today I’ve learned something about home education in the Netherlands.
I was surprised that the laws on home education in that country are very different compared to the laws in the United States.
For example, home education is illegal in the Netherlands, unless you receive a letter of exemption from the government.
In the majority of states here, the laws are not that strict.
In my state, Florida, families just have to send a letter of intention to the government and once a year the test results.
Some states have more laws.
In the state of New York you must submit a plan of education, including a list of textbooks that you will use.
You are also required to submit your child’s school attendance four times a year.
I think home education is a reasonable educational choice.
Parents should be able to choose home education for their children in every country.
It is sad that in the Netherlands, a country known as tolerant, parents cannot make this choice.
