	That’s how it arrived at the great swamp, where the wild ducks lived.	Zo kwam het aan het grote moeras, waar de wilde eenden woonden.
	There was a knock at the city gate, and the old king went to open it.	Daar werd er op de stadspoort geklopt, en de oude koning ging er heen, om haar open te doen.
	The storm roared around the duckling so bad that it had to sit down so it would not blow over.	De storm gierde zo verschrikkelijk om het eendje heen, dat het moest gaan zitten, om niet omver te waaien.
	“What kind are you?” they asked, and the duckling turned in all directions and greeted them the best way he could.	“Wat ben jij er voor één?” vroegen zij, en het eendje wendde zich naar alle kanten en groette zo goed het kon.
	“Quack, Quack!” they said, and one duckling after the other plunged into the water; the water splashed around their heads, and they dived under briefly, but soon they came up again and swam excellently.	“Kwak, kwak!” zeide zij, en het ene eendje na het andere plofte er nu ook in; het water spatte hun om de kop, en zij doken even onder, maar kwamen al spoedig weer boven en zwommen uitmuntend.
	First later on the day it became quiet; but the poor duckling did not dare to get up yet; it waited several hours more, before it turned around, and then it rushed out of the swamp as fast as it could.	Eerst laat op de dag werd het stil; maar het arme eendje durfde nog niet opstaan; het wachtte nog verscheidene uren, voordat het omkeek, en toen snelde het uit het moeras weg, zo vlug als het maar kon.
