Sentences start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

Grammatical sentences (containing a verb) must start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

The only exception is when a sentence is part of a longer one. Omitting the capital letter and full stop makes the breakdown look better:

For example, in the sentence: "In the west, there is the sea and an abundance of beautiful beaches.", you should omit capital letter and full stop of the breakdown item "there is the sea".
