The storm roared around the duckling so bad that it had to sit down so it would not blow over. De storm gierde zo verschrikkelijk om het eendje heen, dat het moest gaan zitten, om niet omver te waaien.
“Quack, Quack!” they said, and one duckling after the other plunged into the water; the water splashed around their heads, and they dived under briefly, but soon they came up again and swam excellently. “Kwak, kwak!” zeide zij, en het ene eendje na het andere plofte er nu ook in; het water spatte hun om de kop, en zij doken even onder, maar kwamen al spoedig weer boven en zwommen uitmuntend.
