This bizarre sentence is actually a mnemonic for helping remember the nine mid-class consonants. Just as "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" can be used to remember the musical notes, or "Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain" can be used to remember the colours of the rainbow, so here we have a mnemonic to help us remember the mid-class consonants:
ก จ ฎ ฏ ด ต บ ป อ
We have to cheat a little bit to make it work. The sentence written correctly, as above, is as follows:
ไก่ จิก เด็ก ตาย เด็ก ตาย บน ปาก อ่าง
We replace some consonants with those which have identical sound and get:
ไก่ จิก เฎ็ก ฏาย เด็ก ตาย บน ปาก อ่าง
And now we have a sentence with all the nine mid-class Thai consonants!
